Flags Unlimited began in 1978, created by Andy Grayner, an ex-Marine and veteran of the Korean War. With his wife, Mary Lou, at his side, they sold flags to the Las Vegas valley, often with encouragement from local veterans. Some years after they began, Andy and Mary Lou jumped into the ad specialty market, providing just about anything that a company could imagine with their logo imprinted, and changed the business name to Flags and Marketing Unlimited.
In 1987, the business was growing and was even recognized for its efforts by the Las Vegas Review Journal. Below is a clipping from the RJ from Thursday, June 11, 1987.
In 1988, Andy donated a flag pole to the newly built Veteran's Cemetary in Las Vegas, a very emotional day for many people.
In 1990, Andy and Mary Lou began their process toward retirement by hiring Randy and Melody, their two daughters, to manage the business. Soon after, the first Gulf War began, thrusting the small business into national recognition for its efforts to support U.S. troops overseas and raise patriotic awareness.
In 1996, the storefront on Desert Inn and Sandhill was closed to better service our corporate, government, and non-profit accounts. Andy and Mary Lou passed away in 1997 and 2001 respectively, but their legacy of dedication continues. Flags and Marketing Unlimited is still family owned and operated, by Randy and Melody. Friendly customer service and attention to detail is still the foundation of this family business.
